My family's experience
Heather Glen was beautiful. I couldn't have picked a better place for my mother. The staff was wonderful and attentive if we ever had questions, they were there to answer them help us navigate through different things especially like the medication process. My mother, unfortunately, only had one month of her life to live in Heather Glen. She was able to do some activities, but her health declined kind of rapidly. The activities they had for the people really were wonderful. We got to experience a few. My mother's health was such that She couldn't go to many of the activities. They had a monthly calendar full of all the different things you could do every single day. My grandson's were excited that their great grandma's new house had birds and a fish tank.
When you entered Heather Glen, there was always someone at the front desk ready to greet you and welcome you. They also were there to get any of the directors or RNs or anyone you need to speak to that day. I want to give a big shout out to [name removed], a beautiful young lady who is at the front desk that was just so lovely to see and to be greeted by each time. I visited my mother.
My mother's room was really lovely. The bathroom was great. The closet space was very generous. We were allowed to move in personal furniture and photos that they had someone hang for us which made it look very homey.
Cleaning staff and laundry I have no complaints. They all seem to be very good at their jobs.
The med techs, RN's, activity directors, and personnel at Heather Glen have a lot of compassion and care for their residents. We did spend a lot of time talking to [name removed] who is their medical director RN. She spent a lot of time answering our questions and helping us out with how Heather Glen would deal with my mother when she was put on hospice. We had LVHN/Jefferson as our hospice people coming in for my mother in conjunction with the RN and med techs and the staff that took care of my mother while she was on hospice. I have no complaints about that. They all were wonderful and caring, and you could see each time we went to visit my mother that she was very well taken care of. And she did not suffer any pain while she was on hospice.
The only reason I did not give them a 5 rating was maybe trivial things which I will explain. When your loved one goes to Heather Glen. They prefer to use their chosen pharmacy that places the drugs in daily packets. They claim it cuts down on any drug mistakes. Now that leaves the family with having all the extra meds that they had at home that cannot be used. That was a bit of a bummer. Some senior living places allow you to bring your drugs from home which they will use up first before they go through their pharmacy to order meds. The other thing I'm sure that takes place in a lot of the other senior living homes, is any over-the-counter medication has to have a script from their doctor on how many times to use it and what dose. Part of that was a little frustrating like my mom needed to use MiraLAX or suppositories. It might take a day and a half or two days for them to get the
over-the-counter med so they could have my mom start using it or would take me a while to get a script from the doctor so I could even pick up the over-the-counter medicine or product so my mom could start using it. So there's a delay time that was very frustrating when my mom was in so much pain.
The second item, was in the introductory package, which showed the food items that would be included for breakfast lunch, and dinner did not seem to match up what she was offered for those meals.
Overall, the staff at Heather Glen was wonderful. The place is really beautiful my sister and I when we toured both thought oh, we could live here. I feel it had a very homey welcoming atmosphere. I would not hesitate to place another loved one at Heather Glen.

My family's experience
Heather Glen was beautiful. I couldn't have picked a better place for my mother. Very Friendly Attentive Staff.
Staff very friendly and supportive. Very helpful in transporting to Dr Appointments. They provide multiple activities throughout the day and week. They could do a little better in accommodating guests with more traditional meals and more fresh vegetables. Overall, a very good experience.

Peace of Mind.
I am so grateful for the wonderful care my mother receives at Heather Glen. She truly enjoys her time here, and it warms my heart to see her thriving in such a supportive environment. The staff is incredibly attentive and compassionate, always taking the time to engage with her and ensure her needs are met. Additionally, the variety of activities offered keeps her active and social, allowing her to form meaningful connections with both the staff and other residents. I couldn't be happier with the positive impact it has had on her life.

Loving and Kind
The entire staff treated my mom like a family member. Mom passed away during her stay and they were loving and caring! Can't say enough about them! My family and myself were very impressed with the facility, staff and care given to my mom during her time at Heather Glen.

Be wary of level of care needs
We chose HG over other facilities due to the kindness of the staff and beautiful facility. My mother was well taken care of for most of her time at HG. While she was independent and had easily managed medical issues, she thrived. We were very pleased. When her physical condition declined, she was unable to return and we had to find a new facility for her. They sold HG as a facility where she could live until the end. They have no skilled care, which we sort of knew, but were assured over and over that as long as she could assist in her own transfers and didn't require a Hoyer lift, she could return. I was told that if she needed help overnight, it may take an hour to get to her. I was also told that she is so young (she's 79) and feisty and hard to control. The medical management of our mother was reactive vs proactive. While this is not all on HG, as we could've have asked more questions, we expected more guidance and help with next steps and different options. It took multiple unwitn

A wonderful and warm place to live.
From our first meeting with the staff, we knew this was the place for mom. Everyone is very friendly, professional and caring. When mom entered hospice care, the staff was friendly, compassionate and attentive to all her needs.
The building itself is very welcoming and attractive inside and outside. A very homey feeling when you enter, smiling faces and the smell of fresh popcorn, chirping parakeets and even a happy Labrador laying in the lobby on occasion. We were very pleased to find this place for our mom’s last few months.

I would rate them 5 for all categories. I couldn't have asked for a better place for my mom. Everyone there has been so kind and helpful. It was not easy for my mom moving from her own home to senior living but everyone has been so kind to my mom. It really made all the difference.

Review for Heather Glen
I was sold on a level of care that was not provided. Would NEVER recommend to anyone! They are dishonest in my opinion. They said all the right things to get my loved one into their facility and then abandoned them when they couldn't keep my loved one safe. Heather Glen is the money grab they have no real concern for their patients. They talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

Heather Glen is great with fantastic care! They are very family oriented! Staff went above and beyond to make you feel at home and address needs of all!!! The facility is always clean and upkept! Staff always goes above and beyond! Looks and feels like a home!

Excellent
The kindness of the staff really sticks out. They pay attention to detail and want to keep the families of the person who is there involved in things. They go out of their way, especially in the beginning to do that as the resident is getting acclimated to the facility. I also had a personal conversation with the nurse last night and she was extremely informative and knowledgeable about nutrition which is very important to us.
I would absolutely recommend Heather Glen to other families looking.

What a gift
What a gift it was to have my mother cared for at Heather Glen in the memory facility during the last few years of her life! As her children, we had limited ability to be with her, first because of pandemic restrictions and then later because we all live out of state. But our anxieties about that quickly vanished when we saw how she was happily thriving there. The staff was warm, kind, and attentive to her, we received regular updates, the caliber of the facility and activities available to her were well beyond what we expected, and as she began to decline, staff consulted with us on all the decisions that needed to be made. If you are considering having a family member as part of their community, I can recommend HG unreservedly.

Horrible care
Please do not base decision on tour or their sales pitch. We were taken my the beauty of the facility and the fake smiles/kindness on tour. The 5 1/2 months my mom lived there were horrible. She was left in the same clothes for 3-4 days, no showers given if it were not for family and private pay care givers going weekly. They speak to residents as if they are a bother. Unfortunately, the are finance driven only. Cutting staff well below state minimum on evenings, nights & weekends and the residents deteriorate quickly. It also puts an enormous strain on the staff. Zero management. When we try to nicely address issues the "wellness" director would turn the conversation around to some how find blame with my mother. Who is obviously there because she needs help. They then emotionally manipulate family/resident to question the validity of their own thoughts/needs which lead to low self-esteem/confidence and more dependence on them. Moved mom and in 1 week she is happy and thriving!

My thoughts on Heather Glen
After visiting several senior care facilities I knew, without a doubt that Heather Glen was where I wanted my husband to be. The entire atmosphere is one of compassion, understanding and kindness. EVERY staff member I have had contact with has been amazing. They are all so knowledgeable, patient and thoughtful. It is very obvious to me that the staff has been educated about the challenges of residents with memory issues and they treat them with respect. It is a pleasure to visit my husband because the staff is always happy and smiling, and very importantly, my husband is happy. Every time I visit him he remarks about the wonderful staff and great food. He enjoys the many and diverse activities provided each day. I know my husband is safe, happy and getting the best care available. I feel very blessed that I found Heather Glen and that my husband was able to move in to such a lovely facility. My sincerest thanks to everyone at Heather Glen for being the BEST!

I'm glad I found Heather Glen for my father!
The administrative team, nursing team, and all the people working there, including housecleaning and daily staff, have all been absolutely wonderful. They are very personable. If I have a question, I can ask and I get an answer. They're very supportive of my father. He can be ornery, but they know how to handle him. And he's getting excellent care. If you're looking for a facility that has activities, nursing assistance, and transportation - which has been wonderful - Heather Glen is the place to go. It really takes the burden off of the family not having to take time off work to go to doctor appointments and things when they're schedule right there through Heather Glen.

My Mothers Stay
My Mother...[name removed] was in your assisted living section and really liked her room, I want to thank you for your superior care. It meant so much to me her daughter, as I couldn't get to see her because of Covid and I am retired so don't make enough money to get there. I called her frequently until her final stroke when she wasn't able to speak more than 2 words. She passed about 6 weeks ago.

We made the best choice given the others that we saw
We chose Heather Glen because their pricing was all inclusive and there were no hidden or add on charges. There is no graduated or levels of care like we saw at other facilities. They do also have a memory care unit attached as well if we ever needed that type of care. I would recommend them to others looking.
