About the facility
Hale House

Hale House offers independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing in Boston. A large Victorian brownstone that's a central piece of Boston’s history, this building used to be the residence of Henry Adams, the grandson of President John Quincy Adams, and it's named after notable Bostonian Edward Everett Hale, a healer and author. Hale House stands along Marlborough Street near Charles River, within walking distance to a wide variety of Boston landmarks.

Hale House has a capacity of 56 residents who are each given private rooms and access to all the common areas. The interior of the house has an upscale design that suits its history, and it’s kept spotless and well-lit. Rooms come fully furnished.

While it's one of many senior living options in Boston, Hale House is unique by not charging a fee. It's run by a private, nonprofit organization that has committed to helping seniors in need regardless of their ability to pay. The staff is equipped to help seniors with a range of needs, from those who only need a place to stay to those with more intensive medical problems. Hale House employs a licensed, on-site medical staff, and a nurse is onsite 24 a day. Laundry, housekeeping,...
