She had an appointment with her geriatric doctor the next week. I said I want to get his opinion. He said absolutely not needed. She is not trying to escape nor is she having behavioral issues. After I discussed this with the Assisted Living coordinator we did not move her to memory care. The very next day I got a call from nursing administrator to talk about her \"behavior\". I asked what behavior issue is she having. She said she is crying too much. Mom fell, broke her hip and went to rehab. During her rehab stay her husband of 70 years passed away. She was in the third new area to live within 5 weeks. And after living with her husband in their home for greater than 20 years, I think I might cry too. So the first 10 days were rough on the family. With that being said, she is loving Great Oaks now. She said it is like a family and everyone treats her very well. She smiles and waves at everyone. The family is thrilled with her new found happiness at Great Oaks. She pushed button a few times and they finally brought meal. The person who signed us up seems to be just a marketing specialist. Any questions or comments made to her are forwarded on to others. Even though her office is 4 doors down. The meals are not good. Mother eats, but complains that the items are poor quality. They serve a tremendous amount of broccoli!
