Resident ambassadors helped Mom find her way around and acclimate to life there.\nMy only negative was that as my Mother declined and fell several times in one day, our communication with staff and leadership broke down. Response times from HHA staff seemed slow when Mom had a bad episode of vertigo one Saturday. Mom reported to me that she fell twice and pulled the emergency chain in the bathroom each time that morning. The electronic record verified this and response times were 9 minutes and 5 minutes respectively. Family was not notified.\nThough my Mother described her experiences in great detail and call system verified Mom's account of times, the floor staff did not report any falls to Nursing, Management or to us. Management did not get back to us after their inquiry report as promised.\nI happened to be in FL that weekend and took Mom to ER. She was hospitalized for symptoms of vertigo.\nAfter discharge, Mom required a higher level of PT and care than available at GV in assisted living and had to go to a Nursing Home.\nFalls happen in the elderly. It's difficult for families as try to balance care decisions with so many factors and as in our case from a distance in another state.\nOverall Grand Villa, Clearwater was a great experience for Mom.
