At first glance, it may seem that it costs more, but their costs include regular laundry service, etc. so it is either comparable in cost to other places if not cheaper, The place is well-managed by a highly accessible and hands-on woman who addresses all residents and their family members by name and knows at the start of each day the health and activity status of each resident. I brought in our own hospice care, and the nurse reported to me that this place was a revelation. She said that the night staff were amazing. She said that often night staff don't like dealing with hospice patients and so service to them may be cursory or dismissive, but not in Emerald Oaks. I noticed the same thing.\n\nMy mom was only there a few weeks before she died, but even support staff that she never met, were aware of who she was and her needs. \n\nCommunications amongst staff seem to be excellent. Job satisfaction amongst the staff seemed to be very high, I even interviewed the handyman before I placed Mom in Emerald Oaks. He had worked there for several years and loved his job and would do anything to help. \n\nEmerald Oaks is located in the country surrounded by orchards, down a peaceful country road. A fire station is a couple of blocks away. There is nearby access to major highways and shopping centers. Hospital and medical care are about a mile away and a podiatrist and doctor make monthly visits to the facility for residents who would like to use their services. (The podiatrist happened to be my mother's own long-time podiatrist!). Dispensing of medication is well-organized, and the staff work with doctors and pharmacies. For tech-savvy residents, we have a computer area that doubles as a library space with an extensive selection of books. In the foyer, you’ll often spot residents chatting by the fireplace or enjoying a movie on the flat screen.</p> <h3>Living Arrangements</h3> <p>We offer two different room layouts, studio or semi-private. For those who wish to move into a furnished space, we are happy to provide basic furnishings, and we encourage residents to bring in their own decorative pieces to give their space an even more personal, home-like feel. Each layout offers built-in storage, loads of natural light, and an ensuite restroom with a sink. Shower rooms are separate from living spaces to provide a safe, private space to bathe with care staff present to assist when need be. Regular housekeeping, laundry, and drycleaning services are available. Whatever your care needs may be, we’re sure you’ll find comfort here at Emerald Oaks.</p> <h3>Care Types Offered</h3> <p>Emerald Oaks is a <em>residential care facility for the elderly (RCFE)</em>, which in the state of California is a housing arrangement for persons 60 years or older where supervision and personal care is provided based on the needs of the residents.
