Not a good option for someone with dementia
Although Daybreak Village looks very good on the surface when considering the obvious: cleanliness, cost, meals, activities; they fall very short when it comes to dealing with anyone who might need more careful attention or handling. DB is fine if your loved one can manage on their own, but I would not recommend them for anyone with dementia. We experienced multiple incidences that indicated the staff is not trained in this area. The main problem was their inability to decompress a situation when my mom was annoyed or confused. DB response was automatically to say she had a UTI and wanted her removed from the facility and taken to the hospital. If we weren’t there to pick my mom up within about 15 - 30 min, they would call an ambulance. Their solution to whatever was happening was simply have my mom removed - problem solved. Instead of taking a little extra time or effort, they would always just want her taken away. We moved mom to another facility that is trained and it’s great.

Review for Daybreak Village Senior Living
Very positive experience. Staff treat my mother like family. My mother receives excellent care. The staff are very attentive to my mother's needs. I have a great relationship with staff and we have very open communication. It's been a positive experience for my mother... she's very happy living at Daybreak Village. It's a hidden gem in downtown Kennesaw.

Our family had an in person tour and it is a beautiful community, the people we met with were so nice. However it was just to expensive for us. If your loved one needed any type of additional care or assistance it was an additional charge and we wanted a community that was functional. If you are someone who is super social and can afford it this is a great place and we are sure the care is good.

Stay Away from Daybreak Village in Kennesaw, Georgia
My mother was at Daybreak Village in Kennesaw, Georgia for almost two years. She has dementia and was in the non- memory care side for approximately 9 mths before moving to the Memory Care Unit down the hall. The care my mother received In Memory Care was terrible. She was neglected, was not changed and/or taken taken to the bathroom in a timely fashion, and sustained injuries repeatedly. The injuries always happened when her sitter was not with her. I noticed at times the staff level was low, and there was a high turnover. Also, to my surprise, new residents were brought into my mother’s memory care and were not quarantined. When I addressed these issues with the director and owner, they said they would check into it, but nothing was done. And so, after almost two years, I finally made the decision to move my mom. My mother is now in another facility and the care level she is receiving is a drastic improvement from Daybreak. I would advise anyone who is looking for an Assisted Living or Memory Care for their parents or loved one - PLEASE DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER DAYBREAK VILLAGE! The care is bad, food is bad, management is only interested in getting more residents as was evident in the way my mother was dropped like a hot potato as soon as we signed the contract to move her in. Also, they claimed to have a COVID free facility until my mother tested positive, then they did not report it to the state until I filed a complaint with the health department. Daybreak is deceptive and makes promises it does not keep to the residents. Our seniors deserve to be respected and treated with dignity!

Keep your eyes on your love ones. Dont be fooled.
Read a review below. Background checks need to be done!!!. A few of the 'caregivers" have a bad background. My family had a relative there and one day in last few months a felon was arrested working there. The place is a pretty place and looks so warm and inviting. Some of the caregivers are very nice, but burned out due to understaff most of the time and no management to helpwith residents. When it was time to go on memory care side it got worse. People not being watched, 2 caregivers with over 20 severe memory care residents almost daily. dirty floors people wheels chairs with their urine on the floor. Then on the Villa side caregivers sitting and gossiping while memory care workers looked like they were tired and drained. A good place would have 1/ to 8. We heard upset stories from caregivers who finally had enough and quit. I am about to write letters to my respresentative for the rights of paying customers and the eldery on these places.

I am happy with the choice I made to move my wife and I to DayBreak. My wife has dementia and I was her primary caregiver at home. After some personal health issues, my children and I decided assisted living was the best option. We researched and toured 12 different facilities before making a choice.

Sad
My mom is 91 years old with a dx of dementia. She has lived with us for 10 years with that diagnosis. We used this place for 1 to 2 days a week for day care for about a year & had no complaints. My husband and I placed her in respite care at DayBreak from the [dates removed] while my husband and I went on vacation. When we arrived at the scheduled appointed time at the facility to leave her there prior to our vacation, we waited until the administrator was through showing another client on a tour. Then the administrator directed us to an empty room void of furniture. I was told they would have Mom in a room & they would send a picture via my phone. I said I would be there until I could get my mom”s clothes unpacked & settled in a room. At this point the administrator made a decision to place my Mom in another room with two other occupants

Daybreak make a hard decision something you can feel good about.
My Mother-in-Love moved into her apartment last [date removed]. Her suite is the largest room in the facility so know this as I describe the spaciousness. It has a very large living room, a small "kitchen area" (No running water but fridge, microwave, counter top and plenty of cabinets), very large bedroom with a back patio and her own backyard. The bathroom is spacious and the shower has beautiful tile and wheelchair assessable. The overall decorations of the facility are BEAUTIFUL. The dining room is updated, common areas are very nice. Grounds of gorgeous. The food is delicious. Now, that being said, I am a little disappointed in the activities. They have had a change of hands of directors in that area so maybe that accounts for the disjointed and unimaginative games they have had as of late. I personally haven't participated but my mother-in-law does a lot of complaining about this. I know that they are doing the best they can in that area and I am confident that improvements will be coming. Now for the Caretakers. They are exceptional. All of them. I see how they talk to my Mom-in-Love and how she lights up when she sees a caretaker. All of them make her feel like she is the favorite in the facility. Just between you and I, she is a hard woman to please. ;-). I see that the caretakers of very proud of their job and treat each resident with the greatest respect. I don't think you would be disappointed putting your loved one here.

We arrived at the scheduled appointment time but apparently there was a mix up in communication and the director was not there to meet with us. A member of the staff gave us a tour of the facility and provided the contact information to call the director for questions and pricing information. The facility was clean and presented a cozy atmosphere.

I can not say enough good things about Daybreak Village Senior Living. My husband had Alzheimer's and the care they provided for him was unbelievable. The staff was so loving and kind. They were so easy to communicate any questions or concerns I had regarding the care of my husband. They were very accommodating and went out of their way to make me feel welcome when I would come to visit. The food was fabulous, the chef did a wonderful job with the meals that he prepared. Once a year they would have a dress up night for the families to come and enjoy a dinner all together. The caregivers would take him outside and sit with him out on the porch to sit and enjoy the sun. It was a small family run community that we were fortunate to find. I would highly recommend this community to others.

I TOURED THIS COMMUNITY FOR CARE. tHE STAFF ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS WE HAD ON CARE THAT WAS OFFERED. THE COMMUNITY SEEMED A LITTLE DARK INSIDE AND WE WOULD HAVE WANTED SOMETHING LITTLE MORE CHEERFUL.l. THEY HAD A NICE MENU AND A GOOD LIST OF ACTIVITIES THAT SEEMS A HEALTHY CHOICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMMUNITY FOR OTHER FAMILIES DEPENDING ON THERE NEEDS FOR CARE FOR A LOVED ONE.

Thankful Daughter
We had chosen a different facility and stopped by only to compare rates. We were blown away after touring. The lady that toured us was knowledgeable and focused on educating and helping us rather than forcing her facility down our throats. These people love and believe in what they do. My mom has done better than expected with the transition.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Georgia regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Georgia regulations for Assisted Living.
