I definitely would not recommend this facility..
not enough staff, Food is okay, facilitation so so.. activates are posted but very often there’s nothing.. hourly activities posted , to make it look like they care and it’s offers a lot of things to do, but not from our experience.

This facility while it looks nice on the outside, was difficult to work with and would not understand my parent's particular needs. They had minimal overnight staff and there was no way to speak with anyone after hours. They allowed other residents to wander into my parent's apartment, which resulted is serious problems. So much so that we removed my parent from this facility. They also had terrible COVID protocol, which resulted in my parent getting extremely sick.

I am saddened to hear that your experience with our community didn’t meet your expectations. While I do understand some of your frustration, I want to address a few of your more serious comments.
Our community has always met the required amount of overnight coverage per state regulations, if not more.
Residents in our community, including our memory support neighborhood, have the right to move around their neighborhood as they choose. They are absolutely allowed to welcome other residents into their apartments if they are so inclined. Residents often become friends and enjoy the company of one another. Our community does not restrict this activity, as it would be a violation of resident rights.
Our community’s infection control policies are solid, but as with any community that provides a home for those with memory loss or cognitive impairment it can be challenging to enforce certain parts of a policy - such as mask-wearing and distancing of residents. For those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, it is difficult to comprehend why they have to wear a mask, and it can be harmful for some residents to have meals alone.
The dedicated team of professionals at Cornerstone is committed to providing each and every resident with the best possible quality of life while respecting and protecting their personal freedoms.

Nothing short of amazing
There isn’t enough time or space to convey how amazing this facility is- and not just the building...it’s the people in it!!!!! The people are top notch. Above and beyond with their care, kindness and responsiveness. I still get overwhelmed by what a dream it has been to have my father here.
We had SO many bad experiences before coming here. I doubted we would ever get my father good care .....and then came Cornerstone. I was in disbelief, thought it might be short lived, but, no- it gets better and better. Do not hesitate for a second to put your loved one here.

Cornerstone at Milford review
The community is always kept very clean and the staff members are excellent. The meals and dining get a 4 star rating right now because they are in somewhat of a lockdown so the dining service and meals are a little limited. However, the activities are awesome there is always a ton of things going on during the day.

The best possible place for our Dad!
We had my 92-year-old father-in-law living with us as it became apparent that he was not doing well on his own at home. When we were looking for a place for respite care so we could go on vacation, Cornerstone had a very flexible policy that suited us well. He took a tour and said he would be happy to stay there for 2 weeks, but only while we were away. When we returned from our vacation, he liked it so much that he decided to stay! It's now been 4 months, and he still is very happy there. The staff is so caring and attentive. Everyone is focused on what is best for the residents, and they truly make him feel welcome and part of the Cornerstone family. He has much more freedom to decide what he wants to eat and to do than he did at our home, and we love the convenient location so we can visit frequently.

Emotional, but I have gratitude for everyone there
In my mother's apartment specifically, we thought they could have done a better with cleaning the floors and the bathroom. Overall, however, the community was pretty clean. In the memory care side, they do a good job with getting to know the residents' habits really well, like their likes and dislikes. They could do better with personal hygiene with my mother. There are some small things that they won't do that are difficult for her to do on her own.
When the community went on lock down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we asked how they were going to handle my mother's personal needs since outside professionals were not allowed in anymore. All the directors at the community stepped up themselves and offered assistance to the residents, as opposed to sitting aside and managing the process from afar.

What a difficult year it has been due to the pandemic. Throughout 2020, we believe we successfully stayed focused on our core values and mission to support, care for and boost the spirits of the seniors who call Cornerstone at Milford their home. Our collective efforts have been rewarded in droves by the love and constant support of our residents and their families, including you!
Thank you especially for giving a shout-out to our directors. Our onsite management team fostered teamwork and a culture of respect, support, inclusivity and joy despite all the hardships we lived through. We consider our entire team heroes who took care of the most vulnerable during Covid.
We acknowledge that cleaning individual apartments wasn't up to our usual standards back in the spring when you wrote this review. With residents "self-quarantined" for several months eating every meal in their apartments, things got messy. To keep residents and staff as safe as possible from the threat of catching and spreading the virus, we directed housekeeping to spend as little time in apartments as they could and prioritize cleaning bathrooms. The minute the Covid spike dropped in MA and the quarantine was lifted, we did a deep cleaning of every apartment starting in late June through the summer. We are now back up to our usual rigorous cleaning schedule.
We are so happy that Assisted Living residents and staff have been included in the first round of vaccinations in MA. Our families are resting easier knowing their loved ones are living in the VERY safest of places for the foreseeable future! Of course, we will continue to follow all public health directives concerning social distancing and mask wearing, as well as our own robust safety protocols, including screening, testing and sanitizing until it is absolutely safe to discontinue these measures.

Meaningful and Engaging Programs - Great Place
Our mom was a resident of Compass and we could not have been happier with the caring team that supported her while she was there.
They took great care to really get to know her and once they discovered that she was a teacher and loved poetry, they added a "Poetry with M." on the recreation calendar where she taught a class to other residents. She was engaged in a highly meaningful and personally engaging activity.
She was also able to continue to enjoy another passion - visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, while a resident at Cornerstone.
The design of the Compass area is amazing for memory impaired people with lots of light, outdoor spaces, common and quiet areas for visiting and bright apartments.
Both my sister and I work in health care and really researched places before moving mom to Cornerstone and could not have been more pleased with our decision.

Everything we plan is designed to engage residents in the activities and hobbies that they love and/or to entice them to try something new. Our poetry group is a perfect example of how we keep to this philosophy! Mom loved poetry and through this group she got to explore something she is very passionate about, while at the same time, she has helped introduce so many of her friends and neighbors to something they may have never considered. Our primary goal is to improve each resident’s quality of life, not only meeting their physical needs but also helping them to grow and feel fulfilled.

Cornerstone was a life saver for our Aurora!
Aurora is in her 80s and complications from diabetes kept her hospitalized or in rehabs for about a year. Between her limitations and medical facility indifference, we nearly lost her three times. The healthcare system had been treating her as on old woman who had outlived her purpose; this added to her complications. They were virtually ready to dispose of her.
When her condition finally began to improve, there were decisions to be made. She couldn't leave to live alone at home any longer. She had been turned off of Assisted Living facilities from earlier introductions. "I've been to those places. I know what they are; I'm not going." Then she visited Cornerstone.
We spent quite some time with the administrative staff and with several residents. When we asked residents away from the ears of staff to give us a "real" review, EVERY person said they loved living there! As for Aurora, her first impression was positive: "This place doesn't smell old!" At the end of the tour Aurora was asked that if a room was available, would she be interested. She replied: "Can I move in today?" We were in shock, but pleased beyond belief. The staff was able to find her a room and her life has truly changed for the positive.
The woman who could barely walk the length of the corridor to her room now "races" there with her walker. That is, she races there when she's not enjoying the many functions and gatherings, or socializing with the other residents at meal time. She isn't bored or lonely. If she was, the staff are always offering a "Hi There!" to her or anyone else to make her feel welcome. For the staff, she is welcome!
I'll close by saying that I've seen first had how Seniors are treated now and in the past. Too many are shuffled into a corner and ignored. I don't see that ever happening at Cornerstone! I thank God for the people in the administration and those who work there on a daily basis. You can tell it's a philosophy that is passed on from the top down. These wonderful people are a blessing to all, but especially our Aurora.

All of us here at Cornerstone appreciate the favorable evaluations from the writer, especially as regards to friendliness. We do believe we have a very special community of residents, their families and staff who truly care for one another! I also want to address the concerns expressed in the same review. Our nurses here at Cornerstone provide the maximum level of nursing care permitted by Massachusetts law, including some types of direct medication administration at the resident's option. When a resident needs short-term skilled nursing services, they receive them from local visiting nurse agencies just as if the resident were still living at home. People are sometimes surprised that under Massachusetts law, a nursing home level of skilled nursing services can only be provided by nursing staff in nursing homes. The suggestion to provide AEDs onsite is a good one. Our management company is having their Director of Quality Improvement, who is a nurse, look into providing AEDs in our community. Finally, as to CPR training, our staff members who are comfortable with performing CPR are trained in CPR, and for those who are trained, we would support their decision to provide CPR to the extent that they feel comfortable and competent to do so. One thing to keep in mind is that many seniors have "Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders" and providing CPR for these residents would go against their stated wishes. Our CPR policy, which is shared with all families in writing, is to contact local emergency rescue personnel in the event that any person on our premises is in distress and in need of first aid assistance, including potentially CPR. I welcome feedback and suggestions, and I hope I have answered these concerns thoroughly. My door is always open to all of our residents and their families to discuss any concerns in more detail.
