Better than expected
The staff is professional and very friendly and knowledgeable taking care of their clients. My sister who is a resident on their memory care unit? So she does not attend dinner in their main dining room, which is nice looking and inviting. One day when I developed the courage, I may try the food. The facility itself looks very dated. The interior is dull grab and dark. I've talked with other residents there and they're perfectly happy with the decor and their room. However, it isn't a place that I would prefer for myself, the room, my sister in. Is very dark. And the flooring looks like it's in dire need of replacement. I think if they added a little color to the walls and change some of the lighting, it would feel more like home instead of an institution. And as far as the price goes, it is expensive. I feel for what you get. The room is extremely tiny and there isn't any room to add furniture so you can sit comfortably and visit.

Nice place. The rooms were small, but we'll organize nicely. I've seen bigger apartments. The staff was friendly and the building was huge. Long hallways good for exercise walks. The menu was interesting. There was a big chapel in Rome. Since I'm jewish.

The facility was very clean and everyone was welcoming. We did not choose this place because of the size of the bathroom. I do not think they are handicapped accessible. I don’t even think my mom’s walker and her could fit in the bathroom.

Kind and Caring Community
I would say [name removed] was wonderful to work with. We had an emergency situation where we needed to move my uncle into an alternate living situation, and she was incredibly helpful throughout the process. The front desk staff were always welcoming and friendly whenever we came to visit. I know there were activities available, but my uncle wasn’t very social, so I can’t comment much on that. The residents, however, were always very friendly and made a point to say hello.

Review for Celebrate Senior Living of Niles
My first impressions - all good. I am at peace here. The receptionist[name removed], is so friendly and outgoing. She makes everyone who walks through the front door feel welcome. She is very knowledgeable and able to answer most questions easily. The front lobby has free beverages for everyone - coffee, tea, water. It is a very thoughtful gesture for visitors, delivery personnel and residents. There are three tasty, well-balanced, nutritious meals a day - nice variety and good color. The servers could not be nicer. They are kind and accommodating to all the residents. They are very good at their job. There is a beautiful church with a Sunday afternoon Mass and a non-denominational service mid-week. Every morning a group of residents meet to say the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Each hall has a Community Kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, cabinets, sink and a table and chairs. At the end of each hall is a Sunroom with sofas, chairs, plants and lots of books It is a warm and welcoming spot to visit with other residents or our guests. There is a free laundry room on each floor. Each apartment has an assigned 2-hour block of time. The building is beautifully maintained with lovely hardwood floors and ceiling fans. The staff is very attentive and hard working. Happily, there aren't any strange odors. I have met some very nice people here and I like Celebrate. It was a good choice. The rent is fair and the amenities are good.

Overall a nice community
The tenants seem to know more than I would that it's less expensive than many other places so I keep that in mind. The staff is fine and they attend to things that need to be done. It's a charming old building with some of the problems of old buildings. I find it overheated in the winter, okay in summer because each apartment has it's own air conditioner. I miss the ethnic restaurants in Chicago but the food is good enough, like the traditional meals I grew up with. There are few activities for those of us in independent living, more for those in assisted living. There are not enough washers and dryers for those of us in independent living -- we each only get 2 hours a week to do laundry. My floor has about 40 apartments and 1 large washer and one dryer for all those tenants.

Nicely surprised
The staff is super friendly and provide very good care. The staff on her locked memory care unit give her a lot of attention and provide us with with plenty of feedback on her situation which I appreciate. The activity department provides the residence with things to occupy their time, which is a nice touch. The facilities are extremely clean.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Illinois’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Illinois’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
