But incontinence with bowels just started on her first day in assisted living. The hospital had her on stool softeners because she he been in bed for a long time and was taking pain meds due to several fractures to her pelvic bone. I explained all of this to the Cedarhurst nurse. After a few more days of incontinence with bowels, I asked if she was still on the stool softeners, and the answer was yes. I talked to the nurse again and we agreed she didn't need to be on the stool softeners any more. Common sense, right? After a few weeks, my mom is still battling incontinence with bowels, and one of her caretakers is complaining that she's doing it on purpose and made the statement \"What am I, you're slave....wiping your [word remvoed]?. (My mom couldn't do that herself because her legs were so week. She remained wheelchair bound after leaving the hospital.) When my mom told me this, I sent a message to the Cedarhurst of Arnold executive director. I also included pictures of my mom's bathroom where there were used latex gloves and sanitary wipes on the floor. Her response was appropriate. I'm not sure if the caretaker was fired, but I know there was a long discussion. She also had a discussion with all residents during dinner time asking them to come forward if they are mistreated. So it turned out that my mom was still having incontinence with her bowels because they were still giving her the stool softeners. This time, they stopped giving her the stool softeners. \n\nThe assisted living rent was $5,300/month. And then on top of that, we were paying $1,400/month for their highest level of care. <h3>Community Amenities and Services</h3>
<p>There’s plenty to explore in our community. Join your neighbors for a screening in our private movie theater, or spend time pampering yourself in our spa, which includes a whirlpool bath. We have a recreation room full of games you’ll remember from way back when, or maybe you’ll find a new favorite. Our living room allows for plenty of natural light through our high windows and has a cozy fireplace as well as a grand piano for you to play. We have plenty of scheduled activities for you to enjoy, including things like music therapy, pet therapy, group exercise classes, intergenerational programming, and weekly religious services.</p>
<p>You’ll love spending time in our chic dining room, and our community kitchen features a spacious island with a waterfall granite countertop. We offer three delicious and healthy meals each day, served in our dining room with flexible dining hours. We’re happy to accommodate special diets, and we can even make requested family recipes!</p>
<p>At Cedarhurst of Arnold, you can spend your time pursuing interests, while we take care of the work. We’re happy to provide housekeeping, linens, and towels, and we can also take care of your personal laundry. We offer a shopping and errand service and can provide scheduled transportation. We also have a convenient on-site beauty salon and barber shop.</p>
<p>Your health and well-being are always important to us. We offer ongoing assessments to make sure you’re getting the care you need. And, we’re happy to share this information with your relatives, so they can see how you’re doing. We offer three levels of care in our community. Supportive care consists of verbal reminders to complete activities of daily living, such as bathing. Assistive care is more moderate — we’ll stay with you to make sure you don’t have any problems completing your daily tasks, and we can lend hands-on assistance as necessary. Comprehensive care places the responsibility for your complete care in our hands. We’ll offer as much hands-on assistance as you need, but we’ll step back and let you do things independently if you prefer. No matter what, we’ll provide you with medication management to make sure you take your medications properly.</p>
<p>It’s always easy to summon assistance should you need it. We provide a personal emergency pendant, which you can use 24-hours a day to alert our caring staff if you ever need help. We also offer on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We also have adult day care and respite care options available. Short-term, respite stays offer a wonderful way to explore all that our community offers before moving in!</p>
<p>Our memory care residents receive care in a secure area. This part of our community is specially designed for those with memory loss, and we have caregivers who are trained by a certified dementia expert. Our memory care residents also receive frequent visits from our nurse practitioner and physician.</p>
<h3>Living Arrangements</h3>
<p>Cedarhurst of Arnold offers apartments in various sizes. Assisted living residents can choose between a studio, one-, or two-bedroom apartments, each of which comes with a kitchenette. Memory care apartments are available as private suites and designed to accommodate various stages of memory loss.</p>
<p>Regardless of where you live in our community, your apartment comes with cable TV, individual climate control, and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom with an emergency response system. Some apartments even offer private balconies or patios.</p>
<h3>Care Types Offered</h3>
<p>Cedarhurst of Arnold is an <em>assisted living facility</em>, which in the state of Missouri is a facility that provides 24-hour care, services, and protective oversight to residents who are provided with shelter and board, and who may need assistance with activities. Oversight for storage, distribution, or administration of medications is provided at the facility. A licensed Nursing Home Administrator is required.</p>
