The Perfect Place
We have had my parents at Brookdale for several months. Dad is in the assisted living building and mom is in the memory care. We could not be happier with both facilities and the staff. My parents are so well cared for by a professional, competent and friendly staff. On the memory care side, a staff member is assigned to new residents and stays with them for 24 hours, to help them get acclimated. My mom had [name removed] and she was the perfect person for this task. We left that day feeling so sure that mom was in good hands. My sisters and I visit several times a week and have never had any negative issues. We are always greeted with a smile from every single staff person we see. My parents are so well cared for. Highly Recommended
My mom is a resident at Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care. They have very caring and attentive staff. Mom had swollen feet and 3 days later they were better, even though I forgot to ask about it. Mom says that it's so quiet and clean in her room and she always mentions how good the food is. Every time we visit, she is in the common area either visiting with other residents or watching the entertainment that they provide. It is always bright and cheery there and the staff knows everyone by name. Mom is happy and that's all that matters to us. I would highly recommend Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care and Brookdale was nice. Staff seemed friendly. No showers in the rooms and the rooms looked very small.

Highly Recommended
My mother in law loves it at Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care. She always raves about the meals and activities. The move in was simple. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We were worried that she would be unhappy about not going home, but she really seems happy there. They did a great job putting her in a "community" with people like her . She's made some good friends and we don't have to worry about her being lonely when we are unable to visit. We would highly recommend Brookdale!

Sick and disappointed
Be prepared to make frequent visits to check on your loved one and save up your dollars replace lots of personal items as they get lost, which occurs very frequently. An absolute must is to wash your hands ALL THE TIME with soap and water! I am recuperating from my second GI bug (think norovirus) in the last six months as a direct result of visiting my mom. In both cases, the staff identified the infection and warned visitors after I was already sick. Even though my husband and I became acutely ill, the Executive Director dismissed it as a "minor outbreak of the GI bug." Many of the caregivers consistently fail to wash their hands after providing care, and weeks have gone by without soap or paper towels in my mom's bathroom. The monthly costs keep increasing even I have to keep taking sick days off from work and just spent $300 to replace her bed linens that have permanently gone missing.

I rate them 5/5 on everything except for appearance. (Not as up-to-date as it should be, a 4 on that.) But the experience at Brookdale was excellent. The staff members were caring and compassionate. And the services were good for all levels of care.

We were very happy with Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care.
I think people should know this about A Place for Mom:
I was not happy with how all that took place. I called and was told I'd be given information on different facilities I could check into, but I was not told my information was being given to these facilities and that I'd immediately get phone calls left and right. I was trying to get placement for my father, while receiving all these phone calls. I felt like that was very misleading, that I was not told that up front. I continued to get phone calls up until a week ago and he passed in July. My advisor gave me information on areas I was not even interested in, I told her a specific city, but received calls from other areas.

Brookdale Grand Blanc Memory Care review
We ended up moving our loved one out for awhile, we were not to happy with the care they were receiving especially for the amount of money we were paying. A couple weeks went by and our loved ones clothes had not been washed, there was no communication with the family. The residents had to be lockdown for awhile, and when were finally able to come back and visit our loved one was in diapers and we were never made aware of that decision. Expectations were just not met.

My experience with Brookdale
We chose Brookdale Grand Blanc because they had availability and I did an interview and thought that it sounded good, they worked with me on what our needs were. It did take a little bit of learning from the staff members to get to a 5, they had to get to know him and his ways. Once they learned, the care was really good. There were a handful of aids here who really loved their job and others just needed it. The ones who liked their job it really showed in my husbands care and I really appreciated them. What I did not like about the facility was that it did not seem like the staff members communicated from one shift to the other, so I think they could have improved on that. Overall, I would recommend them.

Would definitley recommend having your loved one at Brookdale
I would definitely recommend them - they've been very easy to work with, and anything we've needed they've been able to provide. They've gotten to know our loved one well and like her. Brookdale was closest to the hospital when we needed to make the move, and we're fortunate it has worked out well. They've just been so easy to work with, very accommodating , and we've been very happy with them so far. The original person we worked with was very helpful. She's super friendly, and we know we can always ask her questions. This has been the best the best thing for our loved one and for our family, and has really helped the situation a lot. So far we've only been able to make lobby visits and visits from outside through the window, but we're looking forward to when restrictions ease up. They have some activities going on, limited due to Covid, but my loved one tends to keep more to herself anyway.

Brookdale Grand Blanc is very affordable. The staff is nice. The food is good.They have a chef and he does a good job. The room sizes are adequate but there is not a lot of room for visitors. The layout of the community is okay.

The staff members at Brookdale were so kind to my mom. She had lived in a senior community for 18 years and was doing well until a medical emergency in May, 2018. Suddenly she couldn't function without help. She became a 2 person assist, and required more help than was available by the care givers at her residence. My family and I visited Brookdale, and immediately knew this was the place for the best care for my mom. We weren't wrong, she received the wonderful care from the entire staff. They were so patient and understanding. They all knew her by name, and made her feel safe and cared for. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone looking for a caring, giving residence for their loved one. Brookdale Memory Care was truly an amazing family to my mom, sisters, and myself. Thank you so much, and continue your great work.

Care and comfort
We toured this community for care and the staff were helpful. Alot of turn over on caretakers .The community was clean and the atmosphere was nice. They offer a good variety of healthy meals. They activities would of been helpful for her to participate with the other residents. We would suggest that families tour this community for the care of a loved one.
