I had just retired and my brothers were working part time, so it was up to me to monitor mom’s health changes. We tried in home help, Memory Day Care, and finally in 2023 we placed her in a memory care facility. At first it seemed fine; the apartment was new and the food was excellent but not being familiar with things like care givers with attitude and typical problem areas such as laundry and personal items disappearing, my comfort level began to change. When they sent my mom by ambulance to hospital and said “don’t come back” that was the last straw. We found a new location and had to wait 2 weeks to move in but it was worth it! The management staff was miraculous; they met my mom at the front door, welcomed her and kindly walked her to her room. The care givers are kind and know the right way to care for patients with this horrible disease. My mom is now calm and happy. I can’t say enough good things about Bedford Estates! One should not just leave it up to the senior living facility. She didn't have any of her furniture when she first arrived, but Bedford Estates provided a fully furnished room until her furniture could be moved. Everything at Bedford Estates is EXCELLENT! They have a nice large dining room with a wide selection of menu items. My Mom used to constantly complain about the food at the old place but at Bedford Estates she raves about the food. And it's the little things that mean a lot to my Mom. At Bedford Estates, they have a nice table setting with fine linen and silverware at every seat. At the old place, they had plastic utensils which the residents had to track down! I am forever grateful to the fine folks at Bedford Estates for welcoming my Mom and providing such a comforting, safe environment.
