A WONDERFUL TOUR
WE TOOK THE TOUR WITH A FEMALE, SUCH A SWEETHEART. SHE STARTED WITH ASKING QUESTIONS THEN GOT THE NURSE TO ASSESS ME FOR A LEVEL OF CARE FOR ASSISTED LIVING. I'M A LEVEL 1, THEN SHE PROCEEDED TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTOOD ALL MY OPTIONS. FROM THERE WE STARTED THE ACTUAL TOUR AND WOW IS THIS PLACE BIG AND BEAUTIFUL. I SAW THE DINING ROOM, THE ACTIVITIES ROOM, READING ROOM. THE PEOPLE WE PASSED WERE ALL FRIENDLY AND EACH ONE OF THEM HAD SMILES ON THEIR FACES. OUR GUIDE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE MAKING SURE I WAS WELL HYDRATED AS WE TOURED OUTDOORS, STOPPED AT THE LAKE TO FEED THE TURTLES. THE APARTMENTS SHE SHOWED US WERE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I CAN SEE MYSELF LIVING OUT THE REST OF MY DAYS THERE, AND BELIEVE ME WITH THEM I FEEL LIKE I HAVE MANY MANY DAYS TO ENJOY THE REST OF MY LIFE.

A very pleasant and rewarding experience
I decided I needed a more active life with more social aspects. I also needed help with housekeeping. I looked into eight facilities and toured six. None of them impressed me as much as Woodmark at Daytona. I liked the Administrator, [name removed], very much she was kind, compassionate and encouraging. The office manager was pleasant and helpful as well. The icing on the cake was [name removed] who assisted me in finding the right apartment for me. She really seemed to care about finding a situation that would be the best fit for me. Her communication was oustanding. She stayed in contact with me and showed me a number of apartments for independent and 55 plus. If, I move from my home, it will be to move here to Woodmark!

Lowest price around, Best care around
I am currently a resident of assisted-living here at The Woodmark. I have been very pleased with the care I receive, and the staff. There has been some changes, and I was hesitant at first, but the changes have made a positive impact on my life. I don’t like change, so I was not excited for it, but it turned out to be better for me. The prices around our area are very high. This is the cheapest around Daytona and I wasn’t expecting great care and service because of the price. But I was completely wrong. I am over the moon happy with everything. Thank you all for making this my home and making me feel safe and keeping me healthy and active. Thank you to the staff for all you do.

AVOID !
So much has changed with the new owners. A large portion of the facility is now rented to families not needing any care. Memory Care no longer has a separate area - they are housed with Assisted Living. Activities are virtually non existent, except for Bingo and puzzles. Everyone is being 'reevaluated' and assessed for additional care, some as much as $[removed]! bringing monthly rent close to $[removed]. MANY apartments are empty and staff has been cut. I think they are squeezing people out in order to re-purpose the entire complex.

We are sorry that some of our positive changes have been misunderstood. You are correct in that we have introduced a new living option for 55+ seniors; however this option is designed for those who choose to live among seniors but do not need, nor want, any supportive services. But, this is only for a select number of apartments and no one has moved into them yet. With regard to assessments, just like every company that provides assisted living and memory care services, it is necessary to have an annual assessment to determine the appropriate care level for our residents as well as determine the appropriate level of staff needed to provide that care. With regard to activities, please feel free to reach out to our Activities Director to offer your opinion on the types of activities that you would like to have in our community.

Great caring community BEST prices around
The management and staff at The Woodmark are outstanding. Their commitment to the care and safety of all of their residents exceeds expectations. My mother, a resident in independent living, can't stop raving about the personal attention she receives. The care and concern that is evident daily. We are exceedingly grateful our mom found a home there. We went there as they have the best prices around and we weren’t expecting much and we are still blown away by all of the great things. Thank you [names removed]!! Ask for one them, super amazing and helpful throughout this difficult process.

Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
Although there are some caring people working here, there are also some who are just there for the paycheck. I have witnessed patient alarms going off and no one responding for 20 minutes. Housekeeping is severely lacking. I have to always ask for toilet paper for my mother, and her floor is always sticky. When I complain, I am told that "I" should call maintenance! The food is barely warm, bland, and nothing like the food served in the independent area...although we were promised it is the same. (Walk through both and just look at the menus!) All nurses and aids are rotated between the independent, assisted, and memory care units, so it is difficult to form relationships with the staff. Many of the staff we never see again so the turnover rate must be very high. Sometimes it is difficult to find anyone in the Abbey buildings, other times, there are many staff members around, usually on their phones or sitting in the parking lot on a smoke break. All of this may be why their cost is a bit lower than all other facilities in the area. Our mother is in a 'shared' apartment.

If you can afford a better place that might be a good idea. Many of the folks working and living there are very nice. It was the best place we found for the money in the area. they can be annoying w regard to nickle and diming for example they bill for long distance even though they get unlimited, they wont give extra towels, if you miss cleaning day time no make up until next week, they don't maintain your place unless you request it ( if the guy fixes the plumbing he won't fix the obvious peeling paint unless you ask, the food is mediocre except the salad bar and not terrible healthy, glaring fluorescent bulbs instead of warm leds etc. The nursing home section was quite poor compared to what you would want for you parent. Examples include not putting o2 back on patient after bathroom, long wait for help, some rudeness. They seem to hire based on cost vs overall quality. There are exceptions and I dont know of a place like this that is not depressing but I have seen way less depressing places. Many of the staff treat the clients very very well. super nice and accommodating, especially at dinner. If your parent has to go from independent living to assisted etc they are no longer permitted to have dinner with their friends in the main dining room. This is a blanket rule and no way around it. I would petition for being able to go to main dining room based on individual cases. Seem safe, I have heard no complaints , so far no theft etc in independent living though do not bring anything of value should you need the nursing home section. If you parent is mentally ok and does not need assisted living I would try to keep them independent in their own home as long as possible. Many I know go downhill very quickly once in a place like this. Others love it. This review is from about 3 years ago as my parents are no longer alive. Good luck.

Perfect place to live in retirement!!
I know many people that live at Bishop’s Glen. I visit there often and have been in several apartments both Independent and assisted living. Their apartments are beautiful, cleaned and so big! What strikes me each time I visit Bishops Glen is how happy and friendly the residents and staff are. I have eaten there on many occasions and I can tell you the food is top notch with a great selection. I have been to several events and activities and had so much fun!! The grounds are beautiful, they have 2 lakes with park benches all around, so wonderful. I am only in my 60’s but when the time comes to retire and have fun I will be at Bishop’s Glen.

Very Depressing!
Bishops Glen Nursing Home is in a very dated building. The carpets are worn and dirty when you enter the lobby. The receptionist does not even greet you. Once you go upstairs you come off the elevator to a very old looking and outdated nursing home. The nurses station is right there, but none of the nurses look up and say hello or ask to help you. The admissions lady stated that they would be renovating, but so far have failed to do so. The bathrooms look about 30 years old and dirty. The dining rooms are very depressing. They mix residents that can feed themselves with residents who need to be hand fed by staff. It is very upsetting to others. The staff seems very unhappy and do not even attempt to be friendly. The pictures on the wall are old. The grounds are okay, but too large for most. They recently had many fire and safety violations that had to be corrected along with many other issues through ACHA.

Not recommended at all
This facility is not located in a desirable area, or not in an area that would equate with the costs, although the outdoor appearance is very nice, and there are plenty of activities for the more independent residents. The residential buildings do not smell inviting. Our family member was in assisted living, and there were serious problems with cleanliness and unsanitary conditions, problems that went ignored after repeated requests that they be taken care of. We were also concerned over lack of security, and anyone allowed to go in and out. Other problems included staff members asking half cognizant residents to donate to yard sales, which was very inappropriate and was likely what resulted in loss of necessary items such as silverware. There was also a major problem with communication with family members. I would not recommend this facility.

It was about the same price as the one we chose, but they only one meal a day instead of three.
It was about the same price as the one we chose, but they only one meal a day instead of three. So you had to cook for yourself. It was huge so I didn't feel it would be as personable as where she is. They had full kitchens. The rooms were a little bigger but it wasn't as friendly because there were all sorts of different buildings.
