My family's experience
Their new setup was not ready for new residents. There are 4 hallways with 10 residents and a minimum of 2 nurses in each hallway. As they filled up each hallway, they would put new residents in the next hallway. That meant 2 nurses for the new hallway and they were always short staffed. My mom was supposed to have meals and activities in her hallway but because of the staffing shortage she was taken out of her hallway and into a different hallway. Because of her dementia, she didn't know where she was at or what was going on and she had panic attacks almost daily. Moms's Medications were my responsibility and they were to notify me when she was needing more. Her meds were on autoship so she would get them when she needed more. Some nurses instead ordered medications from a pharmacy they contract with, which caused my mom's insurance company to deny the charges since I already got the meds on autoship. I ended up with a bill over $[removed]. Their pharmacy would send the bill to my mom and she would open it and then hide it and I didn't know about the bill for months. My mom would get headaches, an upset stomach, be dizzy and overly tired. I found out some nurses were contacting her doctor for prescription meds and the side effects were causing these symptoms. I had just been to her doctor for a medicine review to get her off some meds. One nurse was very mean to residents and did not treat them with respect. One of the male residents was bullying her in the other hallway she was taken to. They would just tell him to stop. After I talked to the nursing supervisor and some things still continued. I moved her to a different facility. A lot of the nurses and therapy staff were very good.

The staff is very helpful and calls me when they have questions or need something for my elderly mother. I did not like that they sent her to the emergency room thinking she was having a stroke. The hospital kept her for 2 days and never found what was wrong with her. Her blood pressure was high but all other vitals were normal. A trip to her doctor revealed she had an UTI, which can cause similar symptoms of a stroke. Upon discharge from the hospital she was required to go to the rehab center for 2 weeks. I took her out of the rehab center after a few days when I found out they weren’t doing anything for her. She was placed back into her apt and they came to her for any rehab. She has made many friends and goes to several activities that they have monthly. She is able to leave the bldg after signing out and her friends and family take her to different places away from the apt. She gets all her needs taken care of and I would recommend the facility to others.

Friendly community. Would recommend.
The meals sound good, but are fairly ho-hum. My dad had to be gluten free so he had a limited selection of the foods offered. It was easy to be bored of the food. The dining experience was good. Staff is friendly. Tablecloths and fabric napkins are a nice feel for this age group. The residents are friendly. We liked this place because the residents are engaged and interested in visiting with each other. My dad was an extrovert and enjoyed interacting with people and making others feel welcomed and included.

Highly Recommended- Best Choice for Our Mom!
We have been very happy with her living there. They are great. No complaints. Staff: Super friendly and responsive. Give family their cell phone numbers for easy access with any needs that come up. Apartment is cleaned once per week. Cleaning crew is friendly. Food: one main option per meal, other options, staff is accommodating and friendly. When mom had COVID they delivered meals to her room. Many daily activities to choose from and extra events that involve family. Mom has made many friends and feels like this is now her home in just a year.

this is a great place for your loved one
As you can tell we are very pleased with Providence Village Assisted Living in Waco. We visited 5 places in my area of Waco and this place set the bar above all the rest. The residents enjoy being out of their apartments and socializing. Several residents came over to my dad to see if he was considering moving there. They told him how much they loved it and how long they'd been living there happily. My dad is social and has made many friends since moving in [date removed]. The meals are served restaurant style. My dad must eat gluten free so his choices are half what other residents have. The food is ok but can be boring. The serving staff are polite and sweet. The staff are attentive, respectful, and friendly. There doesn't seem to be turnover in the staff which means they are happy employees.

Welcoming staff
Our loved one does complain about the food, it does get a little repetitive. They do have an alternative menu so if you do not like what they are serving that day you can pick something off that menu. The activities are pretty much limited, which were hoping they come back since our loved ones loves to play bingo, games and intermingle with the residents. The owner really got involved with the residents as much as he could and would play the piano on a limited basis. The residents are not able to eat in the dining room, and we would recommend the facility.

Friendly staff members
We looked at a couple of others places and chose Providence Village because of the upkeep of the facility, the food was good, and the value for your money. The best part about the community so far has been the activities that they provided before the COVID shut down. We are now able to go in and visit her after the protocols, but we are not locked out anymore. I would absolutely recommend this facility. The manager goes out of his way to help families and residents.

This was the nicest of the places we visited. Rooms are average size, but the high ceilings makes it feel bigger. Closets were a bit small. For my mom, the amount of care needed would not fit her budget at this place. They do charge for every thing they provide - laundry, bathing, dressing, etc. were all extra.

Great Community
I toured here while looking for a new home for myself. I thought that Providence Village seemed like a great place. The food here was really good, and they seemed to have a lot of activities going on. I also liked that they have transportaion avalible to take you where you want to go at any day of the week. It seemed like a very nice, very convenient community.

Friendly people and lovely atmosphere
I like the people here very much. They’re all lovely and very friendly. I like all the activities and the exercise program. The food is adequate and sometimes good. There’s a plated meal at lunch and a bigger meal at night. They have a menu with plenty of options that you can choose from and you can eat as much as you want. It has many advantages and I like the fact that they have an assisted living area, a nursing home (which I’ve heard is very nice), and a hospice area for long term care. Just this week, we’re having a big Christmas party where we can invite up to 4 guests and the community is taking care of all of it! I haven’t lived here long, but I’ve heard very positive things from the other residents that have been here much longer. One thing I don’t like is the lighting isn’t great in my room and the kitchen isn’t something that I’m accustomed to, it’s actually more of a kitchenette. But I’m happy with the actual size of the room. Overall, I like it here and I like the people.
