Our holistic well-being framework is comprised of four essential components, in optimal combination: supportive environment, discreet care, social connection, and cognitive health. Helpful things to know
My mother has passed. Our family had a very positive experience there. The staff were so caring. My Mom was there for only 5 months and it was during the winter early spring months that prohibited her from enjoying the outdoor experiences. I was there for limited time, a few hours each week where my sister was visiting about 3-4 times a week for multiple hour stays. There was some turnover in administration at that time, especially the lack of an entertainment coordinator. We often found our visits were just walking around the halls with Mom.
A Place for Mom was very caring and helpful in us discovering Artis just at the right time as my Mom's dementia illness was getting worse and she could no longer stay at her Assisted Care Facility.

Just right
Artis offers professional nursing and respite for clients who require memory care. The grounds are immaculate and the buildings are clean and up to date. The activities director, chef, and personal care assistants go the extra mile to make a positive impact. We all enjoyed the Mother’s Day Tea. No cures are offered here, or anywhere for that matter, but residents are safe and comfortable at Artis.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone
I have nothing good to say about Artis. My husband is virtually non verbal and has uncontrolled diabetes as well as Alzheimer's. We were told they serve a Mediterranean diet. In the 2 weeks he was there I witnessed 2 lunches they served him. One consisted of breaded fish with french fries and creamy cole slaw. If I hadn't been there they would have given him fruit punch to drink. The other lunch consisted of a hot dog on a plain white bun with canned beans and potato chips. I had visited him on a Fri. afternoon and his bed had only the plastic mattress protector on it. There was a sheet in the closest. They said everything was in the laundry. When I went back the next day his bed had just a sheet on it. When I questioned a helper they found his comforter in the laundry room folded up (clean) on a counter. I left the place in tears. We removed him from the facility later that day.

Really good place
My dad has memory issues. He moved to Artis two months ago. He very much likes it there. The place is clean, well organized and the staff are professionals. Artis specializes in memory care which my dad really needs. The community has ties with medical, health and beauty services delivered in house.

Our experience
What we like the most about the Artis Senior Living of Lexington community is the cleanliness, it is spotless. We also like the surrounding grounds - it is open and the grounds are great. However the daily grooming has been somewhat inconsistent. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

5 stars on all ... We absolutely loved the professionalism and care my Mom received at Artis Senior Living of Lexington. Artis was helpful in all aspects of our experience... they offered a support group to us which was helpful, their prices are fair, and the staff are all compassionate and caring. The rooms were very nice, furnished, and we decorated with some of my Mom's things... Artis is very pretty, with a Cape Cod style and a nice back courtyard garden patio area...

Where does the “assisted living” come to play?
The only assistance in this place is having meals prepared which are same over and over each day and hopefully once a week someone will clean your room. They don’t go above and beyond for anyone or anything. If you can’t eat on your own, too bad, problems in your room- too bad. Admin doesn’t follow thru with nothing and the nurses dont know the patients by name - it’s room number. Gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling huh?

A nice community - would recommend
All of the staff members seem to know all of the residents by name so they are very familiar with them. The residents have quite a bi of freedom to roam the facility without being monitored constantly, however they do check-ins every hour to make sure no one needs assistance or help them if they do. There are quite a lot of activities to keep the residents occupied. Artis Senior Living has been a really comfortable community for our loved one so far.

A Nice Place in The Woods to Age Gracefully
Artis is a good size community. It has a great location. They have a different way to deal with memory care residents in assisting in interacting with each other.
This a good value. They are supposed to be assisting with medication management, housekeeping, bathing, and more for my loved one.
Trivia, exercises, and more are some of the activities available for the residents to choose from.

when all else fails
I felt like we were going to get more compassionate care but it was more just going through the motions. Communication was pretty good and they kept us informed. I would recommend this community to others. I think a better value than most communities in the area.

Friendly Staff
The staff are very friendly. The common areas are very clean. They seem to care for my mom. No one has ever been rude to me or my mom. The communication is as good as can be. I am able to have face time/virtual calls with my mom to see her. They are starting to allow visits in person in a common area.

My review of Artis Senior Living having never been inside
I have never been able to go inside the Artis Senior Living since she has moved in here. It is a newer facility and it is all on one floor which is great for residents with memory issues. The staff members have been very good with communication which is nice since we have not been able to go inside the facility, they are very helpful. I have no negative things to say about the facility and would recommend it to others who are looking.

A Good Place for Respite Care
I would strongly recommend Artis Senior Living of Lexington. My dad spent two weeks there and was safe. I was able to pick him up in the same condition as I dropped off him in. It was a great way to have a break for two weeks.
