Great Community
This assisted living community has been wonderful for my mom. The staff is caring, attentive, and always friendly. The building is clean and welcoming, and she loves the activities and social atmosphere. Communication is excellent, and I feel completely at ease knowing she’s in good hands. Highly recommend!

Great Community
This assisted living community has been wonderful for my mom. The staff is caring, attentive, and always friendly. The building is clean and welcoming, and she loves the activities and social atmosphere. Communication is excellent, and I feel completely at ease knowing she’s in good hands. Highly recommend!

Great place for respite care
My mom only stayed for a respite visit so our exposure was relatively limited but the staff was super friendly and it seemed like they take great effort in making sure everyone is safe and engaged in the activities offered. My mom can't remember anything so I wasn't able to get information about how she liked the food or anything like that but when I picked her up, she was in good spirits and seemed to be enjoying herself. They took as much care to get to know my mom even for a respite stay as they do for their residents and I sincerely appreciated that! I felt like they genuinely cared about her (and me!).

I enjoy volunteering here at Arden Courts! I came here last year and I really enjoyed it. I decided to come back because it is so interactive and fun. Great facility!! I love Willard, he is the best dog!

Wish it was closer to me!
Beautiful place, they help people make the transition to memory care easy. They help honor their lives. The food is delicious. I love their dog Willard! It truly is an amazing place. Hard to completely state what a joyful place this is! My only regret is they are not located in Seattle where I live!

A wonderful community

Extremely well-run and caring community
Arden courts kensington is a very warm, friendly place where residents and visitors are made to feel welcome all the time. There is a comfortable mix of structured activities that residents can choose to attend as well as quiet time watching tv in the living room or visiting with family and friends in one of several casual settings. The meals are served in a cheerful dining room with cloth table cloths and flowers and a view of the outdoor courtyard and garden area. The food is always healthy and delicious.
The individual bedrooms are always neat, the bed is always made, the residents are up and dressed each day (with assistance if needed). The caregivers are always kind and helpful. Very warm, comfortable environment.

Glad we found Arden!
The care givers are very sweet and caring. They love my wife and ask how she is doing. I always receive nice greetings. [name removed]and [name removed], and Nance on Berry ridge are the best. I am here every day and see the care they give. I feel like I am part of the team!
My wife is always well dressed and groomed for the day. She likes the smaller group activities. My wife and I love the courtyards!
The therapist is exceptional and so good with my wife. My wife may not remember her name but we have gone from a wheelchair to a walker to nothing. This is because [name removed]is so good.
Activities have a tough job, but they handle it with grace. we love the music days. the life entertainment weekly is fabulous.
Nobody wants a memory care community, but this is one of the best!

Best caregivers for my wife I could have imagined
I placed my wife in a memory care facility for the final 9 months of her 10 year struggle with Alzheimer's. After much research into my options in the Washington DC area, I chose Arden Courts of Kensington. I am so glad I did, and cannot speak highly enough about our experience there.
First, the quality and kindness of the caregivers was extraordinary. Many had been working there for 10, 20, even 30 years - which speaks highly for Arden's retention record. The caregivers truly treated my wife and all others from what I observed as family.
Arden maintains an open door policy for residents' visitors: family can visit any time 24/7, unannounced. You never feel that your resident is receiving special attention simply because the facility was expecting you - the facility never knew when I'd show up.
The layout of the facility was great; the place was clean and well-supplied; the on site health care was very good. And the front office, especially [name removed], was terrific.

The first and only place I visited
Arden Courts was the first and only place I visited while searching for a memory care facility for my wife. I knew right away that it was the place for her. Two things impressed me: the experience of the staff and the design and layout of the facility.
Most of the staff have been there for years which tells me they are treated well and in turn treat the residents well. But they go beyond just caring for the residents, they really get to know them.
The design and layout of the facility shows that a lot of thought went into it. Lots of open spaces and natural light. We loved sitting in the sun out in the courtyard.

Not what I expected
My mom hasn't been in other memory care facilites, but her brief stay there was average. Staff was ok, one or two people that were main contacts and very helpful. others were not as available or willing to provide responses and seemed like you were bothering them. No clear answers on her eating or hygiene; couldn't get her TV working because of their new internet (and was caught by surprise). Knew she was safe there, but she was struggling and I think the facility could be more accommodating and engaging.

Really happy here
My heart is at ease knowing my dad is well taken care of at Arden Courts Kensington. Sheila went above and beyond to help us get him settled, and all the staff treat him with dignity and respect. Caring staff engage residents and keep them well cared for
I had been worried about moving mum into a memory care facility. I have been so pleasantly surprised about how positive our experience has been at Arden Courts. She gets better care here than she had been before we moved here when we were bringing in a private aid multiple times a day. The staff engage with her, ensure she is clean, encourage her to participate in activities and take meals in the dining room, and they really take the time to learn about her preferences and needs. The on-site physical therapist is a dream, interacting with and looking out for all the residents, whether or not they are her patients. When I walk around I often see a staff member hanging out with a table of residents after a mealtime engaging them in conversation or encouraging residents to participate in activities.
The approach of having small neighborhoods in the facility works well, with residents becoming very familiar with each other and with the staff. It’s very familial, which is very healthy.

Outstanding! Excellent Across the Board!
A cut above the rest! Do not make a final selection on a memory community for your loved one until you check out Arden Courts, Kensington. Initial intake efforts are from woman who is the most caring and competent of professionals you could meet. She is the tip of the “iceberg” that reveals an amazingly long-serving team of leaders with over 20 years at Arden Courts, Kensington.
The Dockside staff, the facilities and maintenance team, nursing team, meals and nutrition team, administrative staff, activities and events coordinators, all work together like a well-oiled machine. Collectively they understand memory loss and help families to feel supported through the trauma of slow motion loss. The combination of team efforts works quite effectively to bring moments of joy to the residents each day.
All staff post on site if a severe storm threatens, particularly in the winter, to ensure that each shift is fully covered. That is one of many ways the staff dedication is quite tangible!
