MEMORY CARE FACILITY
After looking at several different memory care facilities, I decided on Ambiance of Maitland for my mother who has dementia. Transitioning mom from her home of 42
years into a long term facility has truly been the most difficult decision of my life.
Everyone at Ambiance (management, staff and maintenance, etc.), have shown care, comfort and kindness to me and my mother. [name removed] has been a huge help in this transition. We toured Ambiance at Maitland when searching for a Memory Care facility for my father. Based on our observation from our tour, this facility was kind of scary. However, it was one of the more affordable facilities that we toured.

My Tour Experience at Ambiance at Maitland
Ambiance of Maitland in my opinion is a long way from being ready to take more residents at this time. They are in the middle of a massive renovation and remodel. I truly can't imagine it being finished for at least 9 months to a year. That being said, it should be very nice when it's finished. Currently I wouldn't send someone there.

Our family had an in person tour with the Savannah Grand community and there was nothing grand about it. It was so dark, dingy, and depressing I would not put my worst enemy there.

Peace of Mind and What My Loved One Needed
I would tell others that the staff is very interactive with the residents. The community keeps the residents active with activities. The other residents are out of their rooms during the day and interacting with other residents. They have a maximum occupancy of 30, and we loved the fact it was a smaller community.

Pleasant and Safe Environment for Memory Care
I would tell others that I would recommend the community for their loved ones. The Director of Nursing is phenomenal, and gets to know the residents. They are able to pick up early to assist the residents better and comfortable for them.
I haven't seen a lot of activities going on in the community. The coordination of care is amazing. They have visiting Physicians and Nurse Practitioner. They have PT and OT come in. There is good professional collaborations with the staff.

Smaller facility
We chose Savannah Grand because it is a small intimate place and I figured it would be easier to find her way around and be more comfortable. The room sizes are nice, they are private rooms. Initially it was difficult because of covid restrictions and as they started to lift them they seemed to be comfortable with not doing much. They have recently changed management and things are improving dramatically such as having many more activities. They are good with communication and I see the director almost on a daily basis. I would recommend to others looking.

Savannah Grand Of Maitland is definitely worth a look
Savannah Grand was always kept clean, and they offered a fair amount of activities for the residents. The pace was very affordable for everything they had to offer. The affordability, and the initial walk through really stood out to us. The waiting area, and entry way was very well appointed, The marketing individual we met with was very friendly and very helping with answering all of our questions we had.

The staff was great, although the front office staff were horrible. The receptionist provided some bad information and was unprofessional. We felt like there was a cover up. We also thought the director was very rude. The care giving staff, that were part of the memory care house were pretty good. The staff from the non-memory care side was significantly less equipped to care for our father. Some of the care giving staff did do a good job with my dad and seemed to really care for him. Those staff seemed to not be treated well by the management, however, so many of them left over time.
They did seem to do a good job keeping the community clean. During the holidays, the activities director put up decorations and put on a really great event. At this event, the director and receptionist did not engage with the residents or families at all. They both fixed a plate of food and left without talking to any of us.

Dad was in the memory care side.
Was disappointed in the care given.
Never once did I see anyone doing any activities except sitting in front of the television.
Unfortunately, his health declined shortly after moving there so he had to go to a skilled nursing facility.

So far have not really been impressed at all. Granted my dad was only there a week before the COVID-19 quarantine started so I don't have much to go on. Never saw anyone doing any activities - only placed out in front of the group TV.
