Before I placed my husband in their care, I researched and visited at least 15 facilities in my area. I chose ActivCare for a variety of reasons. First of all, they specialized in memory care and their ratio for caregiver to patient is excellent.\n\nIt was obvious from my first visits to evaluate this facility that they had a loving and caring staff that was well-trained to help individuals with memory care problems. In addition, I really appreciated the many activities that occurred throughout the day for the residents. These activities allowed the individuals to socialize, engage and stay alert! These activities took place in the main activity room or in good weather the outdoor patio areas. This main activity room is of utmost importance at ActivCare! Most of the residents spend their day in this room. This encourages individuals to be social with one another, engaged in daily activities and not spend the majority of their day isolated in their bedrooms with no stimulation. \n\nThe safety of my husband in a care facility was another major concern to me! ActivCare is a one-story building with many secured exits and a well-planned evacuation route in case of emergency! Many of the other facilities I visited had the memory care ward on the top floors leaving only the elevator or stairs as an evacuation route-These locations left individuals that were in wheel chairs at a huge disadvantage. Supervision is provided by trained caregivers and on-site nurses around the clock. These caregivers stay up to date on current memory care practices through on-going educational programs and training. The community separates residents into five different neighborhoods based on their stage of memory loss. All neighborhoods consist of cozy semi-private and private bedroom options.</p>
<p>While living at ActivCare 4S Ranch, residents have access to a wide range of recreational activities and homelike amenities. Residents can participate in a variety of pastimes through the community’s activity program, which is designed for seniors with memory loss. Popular activities include pet visits, religious services, exercise classes, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor golf, tai chi, and more. In between activities, seniors can socialize while enjoying one of the three nutritious meals served daily. When residents want to relax quietly, they can enjoy the beautiful murals around the themed common rooms or practice their short game in the secured courtyard.</p>
