Beautiful and friendly place
My father moved here in the memory care (Alzheimer's) unit about 2 months before he passed away in 2013. I loved the spaciousness of the unit -- lots of light. (*Far* better than many places where the dementia unit is a single dark corridor). And staff was very friendly. They allowed my father's caregiver to continue to come during the daytime to help his transition. It was nice to have someone there who really knew my dad's needs/wants as he had trouble communicating them. Without his private caregiver, I'm not sure how well he would have done. But the staff were very caring and friendly to him and his "outside" caregiver. Just recently toured the assisted living floors with my uncle. The downstairs lobby area is beautifully renovated and the rooms and floors are very nice.

Newly renovated property; not too big or small. I really liked this place; felt homey, safe and no offensive odors. Residents of all types were freely going about their business. I like that the activity director had just taken a group out on a walk. Staff was friendly. Residents were clean and seemed happy. Rooms were spacious. It just felt right.

Smooth move in experience
My mother moved here from Florida and everything worked smoothly. From the time we showed up (after a tiring 6 hour cross country flight) to move my mom into a temporary guest apartment until the day her furniture arrived and she moved into her permanent apartment, everyone was helpful and friendly. The residents are genuinely outgoing and friendly, the staff is also friendly and accommodating and the programs are good. As a city resident I appreciate the convenience of free parking in the garage - makes it very easy to pop over for quick visits with my mom.

I Wish They Were More Responsive
I don't live nearby so I haven't been there often. My opinion is really more in terms of communication. my sister-in-law is there. I'm her POA and I'm not sure how she's doing. I call them and I don't always hear back and when I do hear back it's different from what her neighbor tells me how she is. They weren't very good in terms of getting her settled in. When she moved there they said they were going to be with her the first day and weren't with her and didn't really show her around. The so-called ambassadors didn't really reach out to her. No one took her to lunch, she didn't know where to sit. I didn't realize it was going to be so hands off. That's my main concern - I don't know how she's doing. I think it's a nice place but when you're not there to monitor the situation you really don't know. and they there' not good about responding to emails and phone calls. She's probably doing as well as can be expected. I think we'll work it out.

Ground floor facility with ...
Ground floor facility with easy access to east facing garden areas. Plenty of activity spaces. Residents grouped by 8s into 'villages' for small activities. Dine this way. Rooms are shared but spacious enough. Only 1/2 bath with room. Showers across the common room. As space is available right now, the sales rep was a little agressive in her pitch. Relatively expensive. Parking ok.

I toured with Sandi on 8/30. The facility is undergoing some remodeling to replace the pink walls and floral carpets. There wasn't a design board available, but I'm sure it will be nice. I saw residents in the dining room during their dinner hour and they all seemed quite happy and content. A major benefit of this facility is that it is in close proximity to me and easily accessible, has covered parking for visitors, and is located near CPMC. I would request an inside room because of the noise from the street. Sandi mentioned a special program that my Mom might qualify for that would reduce the cost, but one would have to already reside at Coventry and it could take awhile for a special priced unit to become available. Michael, the facility's Director, also spoke with me, which I appreciated. I would select this facility aside from cost concerns.

A little expensive
This place was fine. It was clean and the people were nice and everything but the cost was a little bit to much for my mother-in-law.

Hospital Environment
I woud give them a three because it was somewhat better than some of the others but I never saw a room there. It was still like living in hospital like environmnet. The did have an Alzheimer's unit and dining on each floor.

Met with Danielle. A bit o...
Met with Danielle. A bit old fashioned inside - dark carpets some dark wood so not as light and bright as Rhoda Goldman and Peninsula del Rey. Residents seem very happy - lots of interaction. 5 stores - 2 floors are for memory and cognitive impairment and 3 floors are for independent and assisted living. 3 meals a day, dog friendly (A can visit). TV includes MSNBC. Every resident has a pendant for assistance -whether falling down or otherwise. If ill, food is brought to room. If miss a meal, someone will check - usually also a check in the evening to be sure resident is ok. 3 meals a day. Shabbat dinners (maybe not every Friday). Assisted living and hospice are available onsite. Garage parking for visitors. About 109 residents are independent or assisted living. About 80 are cognitively impaired. Apartments are bright - can stay in guest suite until furniture arrives. About 40 residents from out of state so experience in helping with the move in process. Kitchenette with full refrigerator - no stove. Can bring in microwave. Weekley linen and towel service and cleaning of apt. Free washers and dryers on the floor for personal laundry. Or, pay $80 per month. Need to get clarity on low income support (reduce from $4,700 pm to $2,700 pm if income + 2% of assets is under $36,050). Studio/alcove is $4,700 and 1 BR (spacious - big closets) is $5,700.

Very nice facility in general. The memory care unit is pleasant with small garden areas, but would not suit for his kind of activity level. Would have to share a room and at this point I don't think he can w/o significantly disrupting the other person's sleep etc.
