good social, nice facility, staffing & communication issues
Good social schedule, my mother really enjoyed the trips. Nice facility, good food. Regularly short staffed, often no response from staff to phone calls and emails. Billing system is not very good.

Good choice, great atmosphere
I've been very very happy with everything here. It's really the staff and the atmosphere that makes this place what it is. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Anytime you have a question they're great about follow through. The lady at the front desk is great as well, always very helpful! The food could be better, but the service/dining staff is really great. I'd say the service is top notch and would rate them at a 5. I do think the food quality could improve, though. I think this facility is a great value for the cost. The activities are really good and they are great about encouraging participation and trying to get the residents involved. Communication with the family has been great as well. Housekeeping is once a week and my loved one's place is always neat and clean. I would recommend them to family and friends.

[Name removed] was well cared for. She was in memory care. She liked the food but would have enjoyed more outdoor space. The pandemic limited some activities at first, then resumed. The place was very clean and spacious. Staff was attentive and caring.

Good place for loved ones
It is a little pricey but we do believe they are right where other communities are at. The staff members are wonderful, the care is efficient and they are quick on their feet. Our father says when it comes to the meals they almost feed you to much, and I have had a couple of meals there and the cooks are very good. Within the facility they have a lot of activities for the residents to do, and they are just now starting to get back to going out on outings.

Eternally Grateful for Creston Village
I have referred this community to others. The care they have given my loved one is amazing. They have taken care of every need my loved one needs. My loved one is thriving there. The staff knows me by name and are kind to me. The staff have made sure the residents feel included in the activities and other items. There is a button the residents to push for assistance if the resident falls. The apartments are a nice size. The communication with the staff is amazing!!

A caring attitude
Creston Village is doing really good with everything, however our only negative would have to be the communication. The care services are very good, they treat our loved one and the other residents really good. We would recommend this community to a family or friend.

Senior living in a hotel environment
For those people looking for a hotel experience, this is the best place you can find. It really suits my dad because he likes to feel independent. I like that he has his own little apartment and his own privacy, but as soon as he walks out of his apartment door there are lots of activities going on. I chose this community because they offer a continuum of care and , at the time, both of my parents care needs could be met in the same community. To me, it is a unique community because of that variety of care offered. The staff were so supportive and it was a very nice experience.

Know before you go. Beware
Brookdale appears to be pleasant, clean and a good place for a loved one. Upon closer inspection it is inadequetly staffed, and not clean. Please be aware that the costs associated with the facility are always going to increase and you will continually pay for services that one would expect to be included with the monthly service fee. Upon moving in,the bathroom was filthy and I was told that Mondays are cleaning days and Monday had been a holiday. There is inadequte staffing and I was told there is "no ratio required in this type of facility". I moved my Father out after one week, and the staff never acknowledged my phone calls to discuss my concerns. Please read all of the contractual elements and insist on a written list of all costs that will be assessed as the lack of honesty, and transparency is remarkable. I would never recommend Brookdale in Paso Robles. Bait and switch, look beyond the nice tour and marketing speech.

Food was not up to par. They required assigned seating for meals which turns their eating experience from a restaurant into "I'm being managed in an institution". I really didn't like it and neither would my mom and dad. They did not have any 2 bedroom units available. Other than that, it was nice.

Very Happy With The Choice
My mom and sister had toured a couple of different communities but after I showed them this one my mother fell in love she knew she wanted to go here. She has a nice apartment that has enough room for her. She is socializing and making new friends. The food is good but there is always room for improvement. In general, the staff is wonderful however the communication in some areas could be improved slightly. However, the location of the community is perfect very close to family which is important.

Friendly Staff !!
My father has recently moved into this community and so far everything is going well for him. I am comfortable with the quality of care that he is receiving from the staff and I have a peace of mind with him being in this facility. He has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys participating in activities from time to time. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone interested.

The Tour We Had
They did an excellent job showing us around for the tour. When we got there for the tour, there was limited parking. That is the downside. But we saw smiling residents and good interaction from the staff. I did not hear anyone complaining. This was just too far for us to choose as the community.

Too many "extra" charges
After being charged $6300. for memory care we were presented with "extra" fees of : $275/month for being "assisted to meals" across the hallway to the chow hall. Most of the time my Mom walks around on her own - she has a walker but only it sporadically. $75/month for assisted showers. After paying $75,000.00 / year, I feel these "extra" charges should be covered.

Care and comfort.
This is a nice community. The food needs alot of improvements. They dont seem to have what is offered most of the time. They have great activities, but my mother in law is not active. The community is clean and the staff is nice, but I would suggest other families consider other locations for there loved ones.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the California regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about California regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Creston Village 3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
