Unacceptable & Disgraceful
Cooper Canyon has been observed for several months and it’s unfortunate to see residents treated without dignity by careless staff members. This facility has the worse caretakers and medical technicians that is not properly trained or educated to handle the various stages and personalities of dementia. It has been witnessed that medical technicians force medication down residents throats despite the residents not wanting to agree to take them. The staff does not use sterile gloves when administering medication and use their dirty hands. I’ve seen medication dropped on the floor and picked back up by staff to give to residents. In addition to inadequate administration of medication, residents are overmedicated to where they are lethargic and comatose. Medications are not administered on time as prescribed by physician orders. Instead, the lazy staff provides medication at their leisure.
Property is stolen out of resident rooms by staff and advertised food menu is a facade.

At the moment they are in between activities directors so there is not much going on. They have one young man who does some things with them but the whole reason we wanted her to go here was because of how good the previous activities director was. We are hoping whoever they hire next will be just as good and get things going again. They have had a lot of turnover of staff members, but the staff members who are here take very good care of the residents and they truly care. Mom really loves them. There is a lot of life going on here and they have a very beautiful outdoor area as well.

I would recommend
The community is very clean on the outside, and the parts of the community on the inside we can see are also very clean. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. They send out a monthly calendar with 4-5 activities a day the residents can participate in. It is very pricey and higher than what we found at other communities, but they did work very hard to get our loved one moved in at a good price

Would not recommend this community
Our family was very impressed with the cleanliness of the community and our loved one seemed to enjoy the activities. However they neglected to give her, her medication and they did not secure the facility. She was stolen from, and they lost her and found her locked in another patients room after having to go search for her. They lost all of her eye glasses, and every time our family visited she was wearing someone else's clothes. The cleanliness and the meals were the only things going for them, it was just a pitiful situation.

The People Are Very Nice
The community is very nice. I had a virtual tour. I was able to bring personal belongings for my loved one. The receptionist was able to get the items from me and to my loved one.

They deserve 10 Stars!
My Mother recently moved into Copper Canyon! Part of her Dementia was not wanting to eat. She had lost a lot of weight at the past facility she resided (one of the reasons she isn't there anymore!) All of the staff, and I mean, ALL, individually tried to get her to eat. She was offered so many different kinds of foods and Finally, there was one gal, a cook there, she would eat for! Everyday this wonderful lady takes time to sit with her, walk with her and she eats. This is truly amazing!! The effort from everyone there is amazing! They deserve 10 stars!

Our minds are at ease now!
My husband and I are looking at places for my Aunt. She does not want to leave her home but we can no longer care for her. Everything about Copper Canyon was exactly what we were looking for. The interaction with the staff and residents was remarkable! It made me cry in how caring they are! All the department heads made a point to speak with us and ease our minds about putting her in a memory care facility! Our guilt went away! I highly recommend this facility for your loved one!

Just mindblowing
We can't say enough about how incredible Copper Canyon was and how they helped us thru a difficult time. My mother was diagnosed with bladder cancer and needed short term assistant living immediately. We were so very overwhelmed with everything involved, and on top of it all, we had to do this out of state. Just mindblowing.
The Copper Canyon staff helped us every step of the way in the placement and transition process. They did an excellent job of working with the TMC Hospice personnel in making sure Mom's comfort level was best as it could be, which gave us great peace.
With the COVID19 situation and Arizona, a significant hotspot, we had substantial concerns about placing her. Copper Canyon took every step in making sure Mom was safe, along with everyone else involved.
Mom was a very sharp woman and told it as it was. Everyone at Copper Canyon loved her. When we called, she would say to us what great meals she had and what a lovely and caring staff.
Mom and her family very grateful and blessed we had found Copper Canyon. They made the last days of her life peaceful and loved.

Copper Canyon is the right home for my Mom
Finding the right home (assisted living facility) for my Mom would have been a challenging proposition in the best of times. COVID19 really made the process a challenge. My Mother’s health and living circumstances suddenly presented me with what amounted to an emergency move for her into assisted living. And as her son I was not prepared for it. There’s so much to think about when deciding where to place your Mother in a particular assisted living facility. It’s emotional, but I knew the priorities were good health care and physical security.
I was very fortunate to be able to place my Mom at Copper
Canyon Assisted Living and Memory Care in Tucson, Arizona. The staff is competent and had the expertise to help me work through the entire placement process and transition. For me it is all about the staff. Those health care givers, cooks, and administrators are where “the rubber meets the road”. They are the individuals primarily responsible for my Mom’s everyday quality of life. The staff at Copper Canyon makes certain my mom eats properly, they prepare meals that my Mom says she likes. They assist her with bathing, dressing, and managing her medications. And as much as possible, help her move around in the facility and work to keep her mind occupied. Copper Canyon is determined to keep their residents healthy and safe during this pandemic and so far they are doing great. The bottom line is I am very happy with Copper Canyon and grateful to their entire organization for providing necessary quality healthcare to my Mom. 5 stars

Don't go here!!
Please don't send your loved one here. It looks lovely during the daytime but the staff that is taking care of your loved one is not properly trained, and the facility is understaffed. Apparently the only thing management is concerned about is the bottom dollar. My mother died from an incident that occurred in this facility less than 48 hours of being admitted into this facility. She was not given her anxiety meds and they did not keep a close eye on her as they should with all new patients. What happened to my mother in this facility is unforgivable. Her last day on earth was a living hell and she didn't deserve what happened to her in this facility. Please look elsewhere, this place isn't cheap and you can find better.

Brief Stay
The stay at Copper Canyon Alzheimer's Special Care Center was a very unexpectedly brief stay since he has passed away. I understood that they were trying to transition him into his new environment and did not want me to be there when they were trying to get him acclimated. While I was away he had to go into the hospital and while he was in the hospital he was still considered a resident, so it ended up being a very expensive stay. The staff was as caring as they could be in under the circumstances. [Removed]. very nice lady to deal with at Copper Canyon office. The community came highly recommended.
