About the facility
Brigham House

Brigham House is a charming senior living community with a homelike ambiance in a historic building. The community is located in the suburban area of Watertown, Massachusetts, which is less than 25 miles west of downtown Boston.

Brigham House provides personalized care plans with services ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to health monitoring. The care services are fulfilled by round-the-clock skilled caregivers and licensed nursing staff. In addition to assisted living services, the community offers respite care and rehabilitation services. On-site rehabilitation includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy. If further care is needed, residents have access to transportation services that may help them attend local medical appointments and caregivers help coordinate care with their physicians.

Along with consistent supervision, the community offers safe living accommodations — all of which have access to on-site amenities and activities. Safety features like emergency call systems and accessible showers are available in all private studio apartments. While living at Brigham House, residents have access to an elegant restaurant-style dining room illuminated by chandeliers and large windows. When residents are not enjoying chef-prepared meals, they can socialize during different activities, from guest speakers to arts and crafts.

Nice apartments. Bad administration.
At first, to get you in there, they are very friendly and kind. And then once you're in, it feels like there is a lot of penny pinching. Their main concern seems to be money, and they are less concerned about resident welfare. There are individual staff members who are great, but overall management seems to care more about money than about their residents. The rooms are quite nice and have big, nice, bright windows. If you don't need a lot of help, the actual apartment is pretty nice.

Attentive Staff!!
My mom has recently made the move into this community and she is getting better day by day in her new living environment. I am overall comfortable with the care she has been receiving and the staff are always attentive to her needs. I am pleased to see them doing there best to try and keep her happy and involved in different activities and events. I will say there meals need improvement. I have noticed everything seemed to be over cooked and the quality in how they cook is poor.

Nice people!
The community was nice and the people seemed genuine about working with the residents. They were out doing things. The tour was good. The only thing was that it was further than we needed and the price.

Great care at Brigham House
Wonderful care for my Dad, who has had a stroke and suffers from memory issues. They check on him every hour and escort him to meals, in addition to providing his meds, morning and night. He receives regular bathing, as well. Very happy with the care and the facility.

My mom has transitioned very nicely into Brigham House. She's very happy there. She's happy with the meals they provide, and making friends. Her experience with assisted living has been great there at Brigham House. She's more independent now, which is good. This facility is more affordable than a lot of the others we toured, and mom liked this one best. They offer lots of activities for the residents as well.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Massachusetts regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Massachusetts regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Brigham House 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
